The line of VW EA288 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesel engines was first introduced in 2012 and at that moment almost completely replaced its predecessors on the group’s models. Formally, this family also included 1.4 TDI diesels.
petrhys. • 3 yr. ago. I own a 2015 Passat Variant with the 2.0L Blueline. I highly recommend this engine. This is not a Golf, its a large, very comfortable long distance cruiser. The 2.0l makes is very, very sporty. The mileage is excellent. The baggage begs for loads of stuff and a road trip. Quite comfortable and nimble around town, also.
